Steps to Successful SOPs

The Seven steps to successful SOPs are -

1.
Identify the desired results, specify the function - Design SOPs with definite results in mind;
 
 
2.
Write a first draft - Gives a basis for discussion
 
 
3.
Insist on internal review - Access ideas; Builds commitment, “buy-in” and “ownership”;
 
 
4.
External Review - Access ideas and expertise; Builds commitment and “buy-in”;
 
 
5.
Testing - Let someone unfamiliar with the job try to follow the procedure;
 
 
6.
Post - In workplace;
 
 
7.
Training - Define the learning objective; Explain and demonstrate both why and how each step is done; Give opportunity for learner to practice; Observe and make key corrections; Provide appropriate feedback; Be patient, follow-up as needed with coaching.
